About Quiet Bread.

Quiet Bread is a scripture-centered devotional ministry. We believe the Word of God is daily bread — best taken slowly, in small portions, with people we love.

About Quiet Bread

There is a verse that became the anchor of my life during one of its hardest seasons —

"He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty."
— Psalm 91:1

I know what it means to need that shadow.

After a near-death experience, I spent three years in recovery — a long, quiet, sometimes painful season that ultimately led to my medical retirement from the Armed Forces. It was not the path I had planned. But it was the path God used to change everything.

I suffered a traumatic brain injury that took more than my health. It took my memory. It affected my ability to think, to process, to function in ways I had always taken for granted. I had to learn to speak again. Walk again. Swallow again. Bathe myself again. Things most people never think twice about became the mountains I climbed every single day. And it was in the middle of that — in the slowness, the stillness, the absolute dependence — that God showed up in ways I never expected.

Ministry was not new to me — I had already answered that call. But after everything I walked through, it took on a meaning I could never have understood before. You cannot truly minister from a place of stillness until stillness is the only place you have left. That season did not give me my calling — it refined it. It showed me what it really meant to serve God not out of strength or ability but out of complete dependence on Him.

I learned to know Him more deeply.
I learned to hear Him more clearly.
And I discovered that nothing — no title, no achievement, no plan — matters more than living a life that is close to Him.

That season taught me that ministry doesn't produce closeness to God. It is closeness to God that produces everything else — your ministry, your choices, your friendships, your relationships, and your health, naturally and spiritually. When you stay close to Him, everything else finds its proper order.

But there was something else I learned. God does not want us busy — He wants us intentional. As He reminds us in Isaiah 55:8, "My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways." We were never meant to drive our own ministry, our own timing, or our own direction. The moment we surrender that to Him — truly surrender it — everything changes.

So do the things God directs — even when they don't make sense. Even when the path looks nothing like what you planned. Maybe, just maybe, He is not trying to overwhelm you with more to do. Maybe He simply wants you under His shadow. To be still. To be nourished. So that when you rise — you will be fruitful.

Quiet Bread was born out of that conviction.

This is not a platform. It is a quiet place — built for the person who needs to slow down, sit with Scripture, and let God's Word take root in the middle of a busy, noisy, demanding life. Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday we walk together through one simple practice — receiving the Word, reflecting on it, and carrying it into our days.

You don't have to have it all together to be here. You just have to be willing to be still.

There is one prayer that has been over this project from the very beginning —

"Let your work appear to your servants, and your glory to their children. And let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands for us; yes, establish the work of our hands."
— Psalm 90:16–17

That is my prayer for Quiet Bread. And it is my prayer for you.

Every Monday when you receive your scripture, I am believing with you that God will establish the work of your hands that week — your relationships, your calling, your quiet faithfulness in the small things. That is why we start early in the week. Not to be busy with Scripture but to be rooted in it — so that everything that flows from your hands that week flows from Him.

Welcome to Quiet Bread. I'm glad God brought you here.
