Privacy Policy

Quiet Bread (“we,” “us”) respects your privacy. This Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Service you agree to this Policy.

1. Information We Collect

• Contact information you give us: email address, mobile phone number, and first name when you subscribe.
• Devotional preferences you set, such as which monthly topics you save.
• Journal entries you choose to save (stored privately, never shared).
• Technical information automatically collected: IP address, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps, used to keep the Service secure and improve performance.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To send the devotional messages and emails you have opted in to receive.
• To operate, maintain, and improve the Service.
• To respond to your inquiries and provide support.
• To comply with legal obligations and prevent abuse.

3. SMS Messaging Data

Phone numbers and SMS consent records are collected solely to deliver the devotional text messages you request. We do not sell, rent, or share mobile numbers or SMS opt-in information with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. We use Twilio as our messaging provider; messages you send and receive transit Twilio’s infrastructure under their security and privacy controls.

4. How We Share Information

We share personal data only with vetted service providers (e.g., Twilio for SMS delivery, our email provider, our hosting provider) who help us operate the Service, and only as necessary to do so. We may disclose information when required by law, to protect rights and safety, or as part of a business transfer. We do not sell personal information.

5. Your Choices

• Text messages: reply STOP at any time to unsubscribe. Reply HELP for assistance.
• Email: use the unsubscribe link in any email.
• Access & deletion: email notify@quietbread.com to request a copy of your data or to delete your account.

6. Data Retention & Security

We retain information only as long as needed for the purposes described above or as required by law. We use industry-standard safeguards (encrypted transport, access controls, application-level encryption for journal entries), but no system is perfectly secure.

Retention periods

• Journal entries: retained for up to seven (7) years from the date the entry was created. After seven years, journal entries are permanently deleted and cannot be recovered. You may request earlier deletion of your journal entries at any time by emailing notify@quietbread.com.
• Account data (email address, user ID, profile, consent records, and access logs): retained for up to seven (7) years from your last activity, then permanently deleted. If you delete your account, your account data is removed within 30 days except where we are legally required to retain it longer.
• SMS subscriber data: retained while your subscription is active. If you unsubscribe (reply STOP), your mobile number is retained for three (3) years for compliance and audit purposes, then deleted. Unconfirmed sign-up data is deleted after 48 hours, with only a partial compliance log retained.
• Newsletter subscriber data: retained while your subscription is active and deleted within 30 days of unsubscribing.
• Compliance and audit logs (access logs, consent records, SMS opt-out audit): retained for up to seven (7) years to meet legal and regulatory obligations.

These retention periods reflect the typical period during which a legal claim or compliance obligation may arise. Where a longer retention period is required by law, we will retain the relevant data only for as long as legally necessary.

7. Journal Entries

Your journal entries are private and only visible to you. Quiet Bread may be required to disclose journal entries in response to a valid subpoena, judicial court order, or other judicial legally binding legal process signed by a sitting US Judge. Where permitted by law we will notify you before disclosing your information. By using the Quiet Bread journal you acknowledge and agree to these terms.

8. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes

We may update this Policy. Material changes will be noted here with a new “Last updated” date.
